cricket control
Cricket Control- Size: Varies, though usually no larger than 1-1/2 inches in length.
Color: Generally black or brown. Crickets are easily recognizable to most people. They are typically thick and square in shape with enlarged back legs designed for jumping. Crickets generally live and breed outdoors and invade buildings searching for food, moisture, or shelter. The adults are attracted to bright lights on buildings and may fly to homes and other buildings by the dozens or even hundreds (in mid- to late summer). Once near the building, crickets will crawl through any crack or hole that allows them access inside. These insects have been known to feed on and damage clothing, paper, house plants, fruits and vegetables.
The natural habitat of crickets is a field or wooded area. Near buildings, they will be found living among tall weeds and heavy vegetation (e.g., ivy), under boards, stones and other items, and in piles of lumber, firewood, or debris.
Niban Bait is one of the more popular products for treating Crickets. Niban controls cockroaches, crickets, silverfish and various occasional invaders. Designed for both interior and exterior use, NIBAN Granular Bait is environmentally sensitive and virtually odorless, making it well suited for use in and around homes, apartments, schools, hotels, restaurants, supermarkets, food processing plants and other sensitive accounts.
For a more traditional approach, treat the outside with a residual liquid such as Demand, Tempo or Suspend. You should treat all the potential entry points into the house such as windows, doors, vents, fireplaces, plumbing, etc. Spraying the cricket harborage areas such as under mulch, black plastic, holes or cracks in cinder block walls, retainer walls or hollow trees will also help. For added control, apply a pesticide granule such as Talstar.
Treat the inside with Delta Dust, or Drione. These products can be applied to cracks and crevices where these insects hide. Be sure to pay attention to plumbing areas, wall voids, under cabinets, under the refrigerator, dishwasher, and washer/dryer.

For additional control, incorporate the use of glue board traps for the capture and elimination of crickets. Trapper Max Glue Boards are sold in packages of 72. Set them out in dark areas where crickets might be hiding or foraging. Maintaining sticky traps behind furniture, to either side of exterior doors, and in the garage is an excellent way to intercept most crickets as they enter.
