Squirrel control
There are several species of squirrels throughout the United States, most of which can become quite troublesome when they inhabit your building or structure. Whether it be a Flying Squirrel, Tree Squirrel, Red Squirrel, Gray Squirrel, or a Fox Squirrel, damage can be significant.
Squirrels commonly enter houses either by chewing holes along the facia or in dormer corners, or by entering any existing gaps 1-2 inches in diameter. Once inside they may chew on electrical wiring or phone lines, displace or pack down insulation, and make noise with their activities. They frequently chew bark off trees and shrubs, raid crops and bird feeders, and they short out transformers while traveling power lines.
Trapping squirrels and removing them can be done in most situations. Traps can be baited with nuts and sunflower seeds. Recommended Live Trap: Havaheart 24″Live Trap
Exclusion Products
The Squirrel Controller can be used to allow nuisance squirrels to exit the structure, but prevents them from returning. This unit excludes all types of squirrels including, gray, red, and flying squirrels. It has mounting wings which allows you to attach it over an entry hole. A one-way gate lets the animal easily exit, but prevents return. Built from 1/2″ x 1″ 16 ga wire mesh, and measures 5″x5″x12″.

Squirrel-proof construction is a very important part of squirrel control.
“Build them out” by eliminating all openings larger than 1 inch through which small squirrels can enter a structure. “Stuf-fIt” steel wool makes a good temporary plug. Seal cracks in building foundations and openings for water pipes, vents, and utilities with metal or concrete. Doors, windows and screens should fit tightly.
