Rodent Control Safety Tips:
Never Use Rodenticide Bait that could come in contact with a child or pet. Be
sure the bait is secured in a tamper resistant bait station such as the
RTU or Protecta Mouse.
1.) Reconsider using bait blocks in exterior rodent burrows-
History has shown that rats can and do kick the blocks out into the open.
The blocks are then available to non-target animals as well as children.
Consider using pellets such as Maki instead.
2.) Reconsider tossing place packs- Once they become inaccessible
to retrieve, they can become infested with grain insects and mold.
3.) Never corner a rat- In an attempt to escape, it can run up
your leg and bite you in the face or elsewhere. They are very fast and run
upward without hesitation.
4.) Wear kneepads, work gloves and a hard hat in crawl spaces-
Glass, nails, and sharp objects are all to common. Also, where a
respirator in dusty areas.
5.) Glueboards in public- Don't use glueboards in areas where the
public can see them. A lot of people will get offended by mice who
"suffer" on the boards.
6.) Rat snap traps can be dangerous- Know where you placed them, and
keep them away from pets and children.
7.) Be careful where you place glueboards- Glueboards can damage
fur coats, or snag a child or pet.
8.) Mice have now been indicated as the No. 2 cause of asthma in
American inner-city children- Cockroaches remain the No. 1 cause. If
you have a rodent problem. Take care of it.
